Seventy six cadets from six North Gloucestershire units plus the band of 1329 (Stroud) Squadron put on an impressive display at the Cheltenham Battle of Britain Commemorative Service and Parade. The immaculate conduct of the banner bearers and wreath laying detail were singled out for particular praise by Air Vice Marshal Tony Mason. Cadets also provided a Guard of Honour at the unveiling of the restored War Memorial in The Promenade. The Mayor of Cheltenham, who conducted the ceremony, watched by hundreds of people including cadet parents, said six new names of armed forces’ personnel killed in action, including the … Continue Reading →

Recently cadets from 2146 (South East Bristol) Squadron, coached by Flt Lt Martin Neate from 2124 (Bristol Airport) Squadron took to the water in Bristol to train for this year’s Moat Boat Race in Wells. The cadets used the Feeder Canal for the first time as a watersports training area and practiced paddling their raft ‘U-2146’ in teams in order to hone their race technique. The cadets built the raft last year for the annual race in Wells and while their staff took home a trophy, the cadets weren’t so lucky and are keen to emulate that success this year. … Continue Reading →

Seven staff and 11 cadets successfully completed a two day Activity First Aid course. Thanks go to FL Dave Shaddick (SWR) for travelling up and making it possible to run the course. Dave will be running another Activity First Aid Assessor course in the near future. There was a lot of interest from the course staff and senior cadets in becoming assessors. This would be a major benefit to the Wing because we could run more courses and spread out geographically. The next Wing course is a Heartstart Instructor Course on 19 June 2016 at 2152 SHQ.

Our wing has a team in the 35m and 45m challenges. Both teams have trained hard and I expect them to complete the challenge. They have had a difficult training season as the weather has not been kind, they have trained in hail, snow and driving winds of 50 mph and one weekend of all of this at the same time. To track them … Continue Reading →
