On 30th September ex cadets and staff of 2467 (Nailsea) Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets got together with other participants from Exercise Polish Eagle 2006 for the 10th Anniversary. In 2006, Squadron Leader John Radford the Officer Commanding Nailsea Squadron together with help from George Peszynski the Honorary Polish Consul in Bristol put together an expedition for 40 staff and cadets to Poland. The expedition, code named Operation Fortitude, saw the cadets walking in four groups, code named Gold, Juno, Utah and Sword! Named after the D-Day landing beaches assaulted by the allies on 6th June 1944. The cadets carried all their equipment, slept under canvas at different sites and covered a distance of over 60 kilometres. Civilian Instructor Dr. Jason Reis was awarded HM Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset’s Certificate of Meritorious Services yesterday at Wells Cathedral. He was joined by his commanding Officer, Sqn Ldr John Radford, Wing Commander David Cox & His Wife to celebrate a wonderful day. This years Jersey Camp was plagued by rain for the first half, luckily the island was bathed in beautiful sunshine for the second half. Less than ideal weather did not get in the way of hundreds of RAF cadets parading through the City of Bath during the spectacular annual parade of Bristol and Gloucestershire Wing Air Training Corps. 2467 (Nailsea) Squadron cadets gave up their evening on Saturday 16 May 2015 to help their local Rotary Club and Inner Wheel raise funds in Bristol Cathedral. The fundraiser event took the form of a concert of the Treorchy Male Choir and the Drum Corps of HM Royal Marines. The money raised was in aid of Help for Heroes. Cadets turned out in their best uniform for the occasion and did the squadron proud.

Sunday, 17 May 2015 saw just over 250 cadets from Bristol and Gloucestershire Wing converge on the Prince of Wales Stadium, Cheltenham for the annual Wing Athletics Trials. There was fantastic sportsman ship from all participants who are to be congratulated for this. Every cadet who participated was a winner overcoming personal goals and breaking records both individual, squadron and wing.

This year sees two cadets from Bristol & Gloucestershire Wing on the Qualified Aerospace Instructors Course at MoD Boscombe Down. The QAIC Course runs from September to Easter and culminates in a graduation ceremony held in the Officers’ Mess at RAF Linton on Ouse, Yorkshire. Cadet White aka callsign CASPAR from 1245 (Cirencester) and Cadet Woodrow aka callsign WALDO from 2442 (Westbury on Trym) are both very committed cadets and both work brilliantly in their syndicates.
