Some 100 RAF cadets from thirteen units across Bristol and Gloucestershire Wing competed in a major adventure training exercise. The Dursley Challenge completed a series of challenges along a six mile route that included a number of the stiffest climbs in the Cotswold Hills. Region Activities Day 2015 Winners

B & G are the winners

An early start for the cadets and staff of Bristol & Gloucestershire Wing but well worth it after they won the Region overall trophy at the activities day which took place at RAF Odiham, a talking point for the journey home. Well done B&G!


Cadets follow the stars

Walking the Mendip Hills at night was the challenge for cadets from 2146 (South East Bristol) and 2152 (North Bristol) Squadrons. After first establishing a campsite, the cadets and accompanying staff used the stars and land relief to successfully navigate across Beacon Batch and Black Down in the dark. Weather and conditions were ideal and all the cadets enjoyed the experience.


Rugby Star at 1860 Sqn

Cadet Lincoln J Brown of 1860 squadron is star of the show as photographers and film crew follow him around for 4 days in order to find out what he does besides Rugby. Lincoln plays on the Wing for Whitehall Rugby Club and has been selected to attend Hartpury College in September. R.I.A.T. 2015 AC Display

Good weather and an excellent flying display was the perfect background for the official opening of the Bristol & Gloucestershire Wing’s WREV (Wing Recruiting & Educational Vehicle) at the 2015 R.I.A.T RAF Fairford. The Commandant Air Commodore Dawn McCafferty & the Ambassador Honorary Grp Cpt Carol Vorderman shared the official opening of the vehicle. Cadet Rescues Dog

Congratulations all round for a team of Air Cadets who acted on initiative and were able to reunite a much beloved dog with its family. The young Labrador concerned was out for a walk with friends of the family on the Mendips on Bank Holiday Monday during which it wandered off beyond the scope of its familiar whistle which caused consternation when she didn’t return. A400M Atlas “City of Bristol”

The Lord Mayor of Bristol, Alastair Watson, held a ceremony at the Bristol Mansion House on 26th March to celebrate the naming of one of the A400M Atlas aircraft “The City of Bristol”. The wings of the Atlas are made in Filton Bristol by AirBus, the RAF have ordered a further 21 aircraft. Air Cadets “On Target” for 2020 Vision

  Bristol and Gloucestershire Wing’s Squadron Commanders are on target to deliver the Air Cadet Organisation’s 2020 Strategy following an intensive residential weekend at the Defence Academy, Shrivenham. This included an afternoon with the Mobile Team Challenge learning how to successfully implement change through a variety of practical exercises.
