RAF Cadets from 2328 (Bishops Cleeve) and 2322 (Dowty) Squadrons climbed Pen-y-Fan, the highest mountain in Southern Britain.
Rather than taking the normal short route, the cadets took on a much more challenging venture starting from the Lower Neuadd Reservoir and climbing up a steep ridge to a trig point where there are memorials plaques to a SAS soldier and a 3 Rifles’ officer killed in action in Afghanistan.
The group then followed spectacular ridges to Corn Du before climbing to the summit of the 886 metre high Pen-y-Fan and then descending back to their start point.
For most, Brecon Adventure was their first experience of mountain walking. The cadets enjoyed the challenge and will be back for more in the future.
