Commemorating the Centenary of WWI at Cheltenham Races
On Sunday 18 November, 55 cadets & staff from Gloucester, Quedgeley, Innsworth, Cheltenham, Bishop’s Cleave and Tewkesbury Squadron‘s joined in a joint services parade at the Cheltenham Races to commemorate the centenary of the First World War and the “Gloucesters” who fought. The cadets marched alongside both veterans and current members of the armed forces, along with fellow cadet groups from the area.
In the bull-ring, the parade observed a moments silence sounded by the Reveille and overseen by the new Lord Lieutenant for Gloucestershire, Edward Gillespie, who inspected the front ranks of the parade.
Following lunch, the cadets formed a second parade to march past in front of the audience stands to salute Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, who was also in attendance.
The event was the last of this year’s Remembrance for many of our cadets and staff, who have proudly marched again and again across the region, in honour of the fallen.
