Cadets from 2146 Sqn take to the water in Bristol
Recently cadets from 2146 (South East Bristol) Squadron, coached by Flt Lt Martin Neate from 2124 (Bristol Airport) Squadron took to the water in Bristol to train for this year’s Moat Boat Race in Wells.
The cadets used the Feeder Canal for the first time as a watersports training area and practiced paddling their raft ‘U-2146’ in teams in order to hone their race technique. The cadets built the raft last year for the annual race in Wells and while their staff took home a trophy, the cadets weren’t so lucky and are keen to emulate that success this year.
Cadet Sergeant Connor Willecome speaking of the practice said: “We progressed really well with our turning tecghnique and were able to learn how to apply solo canoe and kayak paddling techniques as a team in a home-made raft.”
